Good news for all our German Wildz fans! But first things first: the new State Treaty on Gaming has been in force in Germany since 2021. New in the sense that German licences are now being issued. This is important for you because the licensing provides you with better protection, and you no longer face the accusation of participating in illegal gambling. In addition, video slots from German-speaking manufacturers such as Merkur and Novomatic are available in licensed iGaming websites. For us at Wildz, it was clear: German licensing is needed.
And now the time has finally come: Wildz is an officially licensed German iGaming site. For you, this means: Top games that were thought to be forgotten, such as Book of Ra, are back and PayPal is once again available as a payment method.
After years of wrangling, the sixteen federal states passed a new state treaty on gaming in the summer of 2021. This lifts the unfortunate – and ineffective – ban on online gambling. From now on, licences will be issued to iGaming sites that adhere to the rules specified by the Glücksspielstaatsvertrag, in short GlüStV. Since the regulations make strict specifications, a German concession is seen as a sign of seriousness. Finally, it proves that the operator, in this case Wildz, are subject to local laws rather than following a lax code.
The fact that you had to wait so long for the official German launch of our Wildz site was out of our hands. The licences have only been issued since 2022 because the responsible authority was not able to start work before then.
Player protection is a top priority for iGaming sites with a German licence. A monthly deposit limit of €1,000 is permanently active. So you don’t run the risk of spending beyond your means in a careless moment. Of course, you can also impose stricter deposit limits, depending on your personal budget. You can do this quickly and easily in your player account. In accordance with the GlüStV, iGaming sites are also obliged to implement a panic button with which you can block your access to the site for 24 hours.
If a site with a German licence refuses to pay out your winnings, you now have the option of suing them in a German court. This would not be the case for iGaming sites without a licence because – in the eyes of the legislator – they offer illegal gambling. A court ruling in February 2022 recently confirmed this view. With Wildz, you don’t have to worry about this: German licence plus our superfast payouts leave nothing to chance.
About 30 million people in Germany have an account with PayPal, and almost 30 percent of all online shop purchases are processed via PayPal. Nevertheless, PayPal disappeared from online gaming sites years ago, just as credit card companies as VISA and Mastercard. The reason was the uncertain legal situation – before the new version of the State Treaty on Gambling.
However, PayPal and both major credit cards will soon return to Wildz. The same applies to other payment services that have turned their backs on the German market due to unsatisfactory regulation.
Book of Ra was the very first books video slot released in the mid-2000s. Today, however, you will find countless book online slots at Wildz, such as the Play’n GO cult game Book of Dead. Although you have been able to play various “Book of” video slots online over the past few years, Book of Ra has never been one of them. Other Novomatic and Greentube games such as Dolphin’s Pearl, Sizzling Hot Deluxe and Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe were also omitted.
The situation was awkward: While Swedish manufacturers like Play’n GO could target players from Germany with Book of Dead and other Novoline-like video slots, this was not the case for German developer studios. Strictly speaking, Novomatic AG is based in Austria, but with Löwen Entertainment GmbH and Spielbank Berlin GmbH, Novomatic is also represented in Germany. Therefore, Novomatic withdrew from the German market as a precaution - perhaps also on the advice of third parties.
The same applies to Merkur Gaming. A German company, the Gauselmann Group, is behind this provider. Although Knight’s Life, Eye of Horus and other Merkur video slots were internationally successful, in Germany you could only shrug as the fun continued in Europe and the rest of the world.
With the newly adopted State Treaty on Gambling, everything will be different. In online gaming libraries with a German licence, German providers of video slots can finally settle down again without any worries and release Book of Ra and other titles into the market again.
The German Wildz iGaming site is keeping exclusive promotions like Spinback and Levelz with its new licence. Spinback is your saviour after a run of bad luck and grants you free spins if you don’t make any winnings on selected online slots for a long time. Levelz, on the other hand, is a Wildz-exclusive mini-slot that gives you free spins on your favourite titles. Best of all: Levelz adapts to every type of player and grants free spins that you can really do something with.
We are looking forward to welcoming you soon to the new German Wildz.de iGaming site with an official licence!
