2021 is shaping up to be a defining year in iGaming land. After 2020 brought us ‘The Year of the Sequel’ that will also be remembered for a long line of Megaways-infused offerings - some far less memorable than others, can we expect more of the same this time round?
Leading the charge for the new breed of young, creative game studios are the likes of Nolimit City, looking to dislodge the long-held dominance of titans like Play’n GO and Microgaming. But which developers made it to the top of our rankings last month?
Well, it may be freezing cold out for most parts of the world, but the slot reels were on fire at Wildz in the opening month of the year as players scrambled to book in some valuable gaming time. Here’s how the Big Win table finished up in January:
Top 10 Big Wins
Game | Game Provider | Win Amount | Date |
---|---|---|---|
Deadwood | Nolimit City | €155,125 | January 17 |
Punk Rocker | Nolimit City | €118,800 | January 14 |
Ice Ice Yeti | Nolimit City | €92,784 | January 06 |
Disc of Athena | Gamomat | €67,050 | January 13 |
Reactoonz | Play’n GO | €60,722 | January 25 |
Roman Legion | Gamomat | €60,567 | January 09 |
Book of Dead | Play’n GO | €51,863 | January 12 |
Three Kingdoms | Red Tiger Gaming | €49,149 | January 30 |
Jammin’ Jars | Push Gaming | €46,812 | January 22 |
Viking Runecraft | Play’n GO | €31,399 | January 04 |
We tipped our hat to the creative forces at Malta-based Nolimit City in last month’s report for their 2020 showing, owing to an impressive supply of releases highlighted by Warrior Graveyard xNudge, Punk Rocker and Monkey’s Gold xNudge, not forgetting the smash hit, Deadwood.
The future looks very bright for these budding game providers. No sooner had the dust settled on 2020 than Nolimit City returned to write more headlines by taking all three podium places on the Wildz Big Win standings for January. The year has barely begun, yet the folks at Nolimit City HQ are already marking their territory at Wildz.
Awarding one lucky Finn a huge €115,125 on January 17th, Gold went to one of the standout releases of last year: Deadwood. The adrenaline-fuelled sequel to Tombstone also claimed Silver in the highly respected Bigwinboard Awards ‘Game of the Year’ Category, underlining its widespread appeal with players everywhere. This Wild West thriller promises a volatile ride through the dusty streets of the town bearing its name, with the help of explosive Free Spins and xNudge mechanics.
January was a good month for Nolimit City, but their exploits pale into comparison against our lucky Finnish winner. Just three days prior, the very same player managed to land another €100k+ win playing a different, but no less enjoyable Nolimit City slot, Punk Rocker.
Inspired from a trip to a London pub toilet by one of its designers, Punk Rocker carries a distinct anti-establishment flavour for a truly raucous slot affair in the British capital. This prize took our Finn’s total haul to €273,925, as they kicked off 2021 in truly spectacular fashion.
Fresh off a 1st place in December’s Big Win table, Ice Ice Yeti rounds off the top 3 spots to cap a breathless month of slot action for Nolimit City. Set in far chillier climes, its cute band of critters were on hand to help one lucky Canadian to a €92,784 windfall on January 6th.
Not to be totally outshone, Play’n GO made their presence felt with a trio of entries on our Big Win standings last month. Led by its colourful one and two-eyed aliens, the iconic grid-based game Reactoonz served up a €60,722 prize on the 25th day of the month, while evergreen flagship title, Book of Dead, made its customary appearance to award €51,863 two weeks earlier.
Play’n GO are masters at crafting quality grid games, and it’s another borrowing from this format that represents the third and final showing from the developer. Helping one player in Finland to a win worth €31,399, Viking Runecraft sails onto the high seas armed with Cascading Reels and Ragnarok Free Spins, among other bonus features.
Nolimit City may have won the January battle, but the slot wars wager on at Wildz.
Now let’s divert our attention the Top 10 Multiplier Wins from January:

Mega Moolah | Microgaming | 10,879x | January 31 |
Razor Shark | Push Gaming | 10,400x | January 09 |
Those fortuitous Finns were at it again in the Multiplier rankings, taking top spot with a Play’n GO slot designed to satisfy even the sweetest tooth. Yet another grid-based affair, the delightful 5x5 Sweet Alchemy invites you to form clusters of candies to gorge on some tasty treats at the reels.
String together successive wins involving 38 symbols or more to trigger the game’s ‘Mix The Elixir’ Free Spins round, which unfolds over an enlarged 9x9 reel setup to enhance your win potential. Add in Cascading Reels to the mix, plus extras like the Sugar Rush Meter and Elixir of Power Bonus, and you have the recipe for a highly enjoyable slot perfect for some casual gaming.
One of the developer’s more exciting titles from their packed 2020 release schedule, incidentally, made its maiden appearance in the Wildz Multiplier rankings in January. Packing huge potential, Coils of Cash served up a 12,053x win on January 10th - the first of many from this highly-charged video slot, we suspect.
Legendary Australian game provider Big Time Gaming make their first showings of the month courtesy of a devilish slot that remains a highlight of the developer’s wide-ranging repertoire. Helping three separate players to sizeable Multiplier Wins, Lil Devil has shades of the developer’s Danger High Voltage, but carries its own intense allure.
Despite its apocalyptic feel, the game explodes into life whenever Free Spins kick in; namely Be My Angel and Dynamite Love rounds. Get the reels firing in either bonus feature to put yourself in contention for the game’s huge jaw-dropping max win, which tops out at an enormous 50,000 times your bet. It’s little wonder players are drawn to this game day after day at Wildz, and proof you don’t need Megaways by your side to churn out a killer video slot.
A wider scan of the Multiplier table reveals a handful of fan favourites that consistently make the Wildz Big Win report their home.
NetEnt’s iconic Multiplier-laden sequel Dead or Alive 2 dished up a 13,753x win on January 28th, sandwiched between wins in Push Gaming classic Razor Shark (10,400x) and the most famous jackpot game of them all, Mega Moolah (10,879x).
January served up a little bit of everything for Wildz players. Will it be more of the same next month? Can the Nolimit City juggernaut steamroll into February, or will the old guard fight back?
